Concerts and music festivals in Mallorca through the year

A symphony orchestra in a Gothic castle, piano in Chopin's monastery, jazz on summer nights in Sa Pobla. Mallorca's music is as much about the place as the programme. Here is what plays when.

The short answer

Mallorca's music year peaks in summer: the Bellver Festival in Palma's castle from late June to mid July, the Festival de Pollença in a convent cloister in July and August, and the Chopin Festival in Valldemossa in August. Mallorca Live brings pop and rock in June, and from October opera returns to Palma's Teatre Principal.

Key takeaways

  • The orchestra's season runs from October to May, and the opera season at the Teatre Principal from October to June.
  • Summer is festival time: Bellver from late June to mid July, Pollença in July and August, Chopin in Valldemossa in August.
  • The Deià International Music Festival runs chamber concerts from May to early October, mostly at Son Marroig.

Music in Mallorca follows the light. From October to May it lives indoors, with the symphony orchestra and the opera season in Palma. From June it moves outside, into castle courtyards, monastery cloisters, estate gardens and marinas, and the setting becomes half the reason to go.

Our print guide put it simply: concerts here are a feast for the eyes as well as the ears. We have checked every festival on that old list again. Some have stopped or changed, and they are gone; the ones below are still running, and we give the month rather than exact dates unless the organisers have already announced them.

The calendar below is our selection, from the big open-air nights to the small classical series. Dates move a little each year, so check the festival's own site before you book flights around a concert.

Which classical music festivals in Mallorca are worth booking ahead?

Four summer series stand out, each defined by its setting. All of them have limited seating, so buy as soon as the programme appears, usually in spring.

Festival de Bellver, Palma, late June to mid July

The island's symphony orchestra moves into the courtyard of Bellver Castle, the round fourteenth century fortress above Palma, for its summer series. You sit inside the circular courtyard as the evening cools, with the city lights below. Seats in the courtyard and under the arcades are priced differently.

Festival de Pollença, July and August

Since 1961 the cloister of the former Dominican convent of Sant Domingo, in the heart of Pollença's old town, has hosted one of the most respected classical festivals in Spain. The 2026 edition was the 65th. Make an evening of it: dinner in the old town, then the concert.

Festival Chopin, Valldemossa, August

Chopin and George Sand spent the winter of 1838 to 1839 in the Cartoixa de Valldemossa, and the monastery has held a festival in his honour for decades. International pianists play Chopin and his contemporaries on August evenings, and it closes the summer season in the village.

Deià International Music Festival, May to early October

The longest season of the four runs from spring to early autumn, with chamber music and soloists, mostly at Son Marroig, the estate of Archduke Ludwig Salvator above the sea between Deià and Valldemossa. The sunset concerts on the terrace are the ones to choose.

Where can you hear jazz, pop and big open-air concerts?

Away from the classical series, Mallorca has a handful of festivals that bring international names to the island each year.

  • Mallorca Live: the island's biggest pop, rock and electronic festival, held every June, in Calvià in 2026. The organisers have already announced the 2027 edition for 11 and 12 June.
  • Port Adriano Music Festival: a couple of big nights at the marina near El Toro around the turn of July and August. The 14th edition in 2026 brought Ara Malikian and Tony Hadley.
  • Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla: a summer jazz festival in the town of Sa Pobla, produced by the town council, from late July into August. The 2026 edition was its 32nd.
  • Jazz Voyeur Festival: Palma's autumn jazz festival, with concerts at the Teatre Principal and other city venues in November and December.

For something less formal on a summer night, the Lobster Club beach club next to Puerto Portals holds Full Moon Parties with DJs and cocktails over the sea. It opens from mid May to mid October.

Where can you hear live music in Mallorca outside summer?

From October the season moves indoors, to Palma. It is the best time of year for serious listening, with fewer visitors and easier tickets.

  • Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears: the island's orchestra plays its subscription season from October to May, mainly at the Auditòrium de Palma on the Passeig Marítim, with concerts in Manacor too.
  • Teatre Principal: Palma's historic theatre programmes opera, music and dance through the year. The opera season runs from October to June and opens in late October 2026 with Gounod's Faust.
  • Santuari de Lluc: high in the Serra de Tramuntana, the Blauets, the boys and girls of one of Europe's oldest choir schools, sing the Salve every day at 13:15. Easter week is the moment to hear them at their best.
  • Pueblo Español: Palma's open-air museum hosts open-air concerts and cultural evenings in its squares through the warmer months.

How do Mallorca's village fiestas fit into the music calendar?

Every town fiesta comes with music: brass bands, folk dancing, open-air concerts on the main square and a late night party for the young. They are free and they are where Mallorcans actually spend their summer evenings. Our Mallorca fiestas calendar lists the big ones month by month, so you can pair a festival concert with a village night.

How do you plan a trip around a concert in Mallorca?

  1. Watch for the programme in spring, when most summer festivals publish theirs; the best concerts sell out within weeks.
  2. Buy from the festival's own website or box office, never from resellers.
  3. Plan the drive home. Bellver, Pollença and Valldemossa have limited parking; a taxi there and back saves the stress.
  4. Book dinner before or after. Our restaurant selection has places near each venue, and our events page covers what is on this month. By day, our guide to Mallorca's museums covers Bellver, Valldemossa and Son Marroig.
  5. Stay close. A night in Pollença, Valldemossa or Palma's old town turns a concert into a short break; see our hotels.

The island's best concerts are the ones where you hear the cicadas stop as the first note plays. Pick one setting that moves you, a castle, a cloister or a sea terrace, and build the evening around it.
