  10. How do you choose the right creative restaurant for your trip?

Mallorca's most creative restaurants are spread across the island: fusion kitchens in Palma's old town and Santa Catalina, a courtyard in Santa Maria del Camí, a harbour terrace in Puerto Portals and village dining rooms in the east and north. What links them is a chef with a point of view and island produce on the plate.

Our print guide listed 13 favourite places for creative cooking at a fair price. Several have since closed, moved or changed hands, so this list keeps only the kitchens we could confirm are cooking today, and adds a few that have earned their place since.

What counts as creative dining in Mallorca today?

Creative here rarely means foams for their own sake. It usually means a chef from somewhere else, or a Mallorcan who trained elsewhere, applying another tradition to island fish, vegetables, oil and wine. The results run from Korean barbecue to grandmother's recipes rethought for a tasting menu.

1. Es Pati, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar

There is no menu card at Es Pati. Felix cooks and Sarah runs the room and the wine, and every evening there is exactly one menu of five courses, the same for the whole table, built from what Felix finds at the market that morning. The style is international, with Asian and Mediterranean influences and a nod to grandmother's cooking.

2. Emilio Innobar, Palma

Chef Emilio Castrejón calls his style Fine Fusion: Mexican, Asian and Mediterranean flavours on a menu that follows the market, usually with sashimi, tataki and ceviche alongside meat dishes. Plates are made for sharing. The restaurant is in the heart of Palma, close to the Hotel HM Jaime III, and the room gets lively when it is full.

3. Bi Bap, Palma

Bi Bap brings Korean cooking to Palma's old town, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients. Come for the bibimbap the restaurant is named after, or for Korean barbecue in the evening, with small side dishes alongside the mains. Takeaway is available too.

4. Mola, Santa Catalina

Mola began as a small restaurant in Portixol in 2018 and moved into Santa Catalina in 2021, directly opposite the market. The cooking borrows flavours from around the world: poke bowls, tempura prawns, salmon tacos and bluefin tuna uramaki. A weekday lunch menu makes it an easy stop after shopping. In March 2026 the team opened a third outpost, Mola in the Club, at the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponça.

5. Restaurant 19 by Livingdreams, Santa Maria del Camí

Restaurant 19 sits in the courtyard of the Livingdreams concept house on Plaça Hostals, with plants, stonework and a fountain, plus dining rooms inside. The kitchen sets Asian influences on a Mediterranean base: ceviche, sea bass, pork cheeks, curry and dumplings. It serves from breakfast to dinner, and booking is strongly advised.

6. Spoon, Puerto Portals

Spoon describes its cooking as upscale cross-over with refined Asian accents: wok dishes, light fish plates and, a little unexpectedly, an original Wiener Schnitzel. The restaurant is on the harbour promenade at Puerto Portals, with Mallorcan and international wines and a steady flow of guests arriving by boat.

7. Fusion19, Playa de Muro

If you want the creative spirit with a Michelin star attached, Fusion19 in Playa de Muro on the north coast is the one. It holds one star and is the only starred restaurant in Mallorca that the Michelin Guide classes as fusion. Our guide to Mallorca's Michelin-starred restaurants and local produce lists the rest of the island's starred kitchens.

8. Ca na Toneta, Caimari

In the village of Caimari, at the foot of the Tramuntana, Ca na Toneta is run by two sisters, among them María Solivellas, whose menus reinterpret recipes handed down in her family. Michelin files it under regional cuisine and has given it a Green Star for sustainable gastronomy. It is the most Mallorcan restaurant on this list, and proof that creative does not have to mean imported.

How do you choose the right creative restaurant for your trip?

  • Exploring inland: Restaurant 19 in Santa Maria del Camí, or Ca na Toneta in Caimari.
  • Staying in the east or north: Es Pati for a set dinner in Sant Llorenç, Fusion19 for a starred evening in Playa de Muro.
