The Ermita de Betlem is a tiny hermitage in the northeast of Mallorca which had been the home of some monks until the year 2010. The oratory is open for visit and the spectacular view from the mountain behind the buildings is just breathtaking and worth the ascent.
This is an easy hiking tour in Mallorca for people with normal condition. Ascent and descent are on the same way, well signed and it takes you about 50 min. each way.
Coming by car from Can Picafort you go towards Arta, turn left direction Colonia Sant Pere. Just pass the village left to you and continue to Betlem. Just before the entrance to the small village you will see a wooden sign on the right showing the way to the Ermita de Betlem. Just park your car here and start the tour. When going up, turn around and you will notice that the sea view gets even more spectacular with the altitude.
After 50 minutes you will reach the plateau on which the ermita has been built. First, you pass a spring. It´s pure drinking water. So, feel free to refill your bottles! Then, enter the garden and visit the chapel. Afterwards, continue the ascent just behind the chapel and within easy 5 minutes you will reach a peak with breathtaking views over the bay of Alcudia. Maybe you will join some para gliders who use to start on this peak.
Take the same way back and enjoy the sea view! An easy but beautiful hiking excursion in Mallorca!
