Nicole Hoch is the perfect example of a power woman. After graduating from business school and working in the fashion industry, she finally fulfilled her childhood passion: interior design. Always brimming with ideas, this gifted designer has been creating, with great imagination and expertise, the most beautiful lamps, home accessories and decorative items with that Asian-Mediterranean touch – custom-made dining tables, chairs and lounges for use indoors as well as outdoors, always from one solid piece of recycled wood, and even up to 8 meters long. She playfully combines antiques from all over the world, sculptures in stone, Forest Chairs, large and highly wind resistant Tucci sun umbrellas and lighting pieces for the garden as well.
Nicole Hoch’s success story began with a trip to Lombok (Indonesia) with her husband Pat and their two small daughters. She fell in love with the local stone sculptures and had 100 shipped to Zurich not knowing whether they would ever arrive. Once they did, she organized a garden party for friends and acquaintances and then also visited upmarket florists and interior designers. Within a short time she had sold them all.
This prompted her to pack her bags again, this time for Bali. There she discovered her passion for furniture in minimalist form: primitive art combined with contemporary items, practical and pared down. Once again she had a container shipped to Europe full of tables from recycled wood in different sizes and decorative antiques from South-East Asia.
In the Swiss town of Meilen, where she lives with her family, she found a huge 580 square metre barn and then, using her considerable talent set about renovating and enlarging it. Her first project was, and continues to be, a resounding success with many regular customers from all over the world.
After travelling to Majorca in 2015, she set up her second store in Santa María del Camí in a typical, charming, city palace – the perfect place to showcase her magical world – and capably managed with charm and empathy by Susanne Wolfensberger. It has turned out to be a place of inspiration, inviting you to stay and unwind. In addition, international culinary delights are served in the romantic restaurant and garden.
When it comes to fine wood, comfort, functionality and design, Nicole Hoch’s creations meet the very highest of standards. She loves hand woven outdoor fabrics: consistently embracing their style and concept and using every square inch of them, especially for outdoor use. Because “Anything I can leave outside gives me more time for myself. Sheer bliss!”
Note: all the furniture made from solid wood is 100% certified as complying with strict EU import guidelines and with ecological norms. It is not mass produced and for this reason the delivery time for bespoke tables and lounges made from recycled hard wood usually takes 8 to 12 weeks. This is not for the impatient… But the delight on their arrival is all the greater!
